Now Sub tropical storm Beryl's effects to be felt this weekend. Sub Tropical Storm Beryl located about 240 miles east-southeast of Charleston...South Carolina has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and a present movement to the west-southwest at 5 mph. The current track of this system will take it near the North Florida and southeast Georgia coast Sunday night. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for Volusia County and the marine waters southward along the North Florida coast to the Volusia County-Brevard County line extending out from the coast 60 nautical miles. Cautionary statements exist for small craft from building swells producing seas to 6 feet this afternoon offshore and north of Sebastian Inlet. Ocean swells will build ahead of Beryl and will impact our local marine waters today creating a moderate risk of rip currents at area beaches across east central Florida. If you must enter the surf... check with local beach patrol on the latest surf conditions and always swim near a lifeguard. Warm temperatures and a dry airmass will combine to produce relative humidity values between 35 and 40 percent along and west of Interstate 4 this afternoon. Gusty north or northeast winds near 15 mph may lead to rapid spread of new or existing wildfires. A drier airmass will keep rain chances limited this afternoon... though isolated rain chances will exist from early to mid afternoon over Okeechobee County and across portions of the Treasure Coast along the East Coast sea breeze. Storm movement will generally be toward the south or southeast at 10 to 15 mph. Additional scattered shower and thunderstorm activity may be possible later tonight as outer bands of Beryl begin to move into the coastal waters and possibly onshore.
