Forecast as of 8:34 am EST on December 5, 2008

Now

The short term forecast for western New York. Bands of lake effect snow will continue this morning, especially over the higher elevations of northern Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, along with the southeast corner of Erie County, and central Wyoming County. Some of the cities and towns that will be affected by this band include, Westfield, Stockton, Perrysburg, Delevan, Holland, Wales and Varysburg. Snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are possible in the heaviest activity, along with visibility reduced to 1/3 of a mile or less. Roads will become snow covered and slippery, so allow some extra time to reach your destination if you will be traveling through this area of activity. This band is forecast to drift slowly northward as the day progresses. Outside of the lake band, skies will be mostly sunny, with just a chance of a passing snow shower for some locations.
