Flash Flood Watch
Expires 3:00 PM EDT on September 07, 2008

Statement as of 3:59 PM EDT on September 6, 2008

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 8 PM EDT this evening
through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Maine and southeast Maine... including
the following areas... in east central Maine... southern
Penobscot. In southeast Maine... central Washington... coastal
Hancock... coastal Washington and interior Hancock.

* From 8 PM EDT this evening through Sunday afternoon

* rain associated with Tropical Storm Hanna will reach downeast
Maine tonight and continue into Sunday morning. Rainfall amounts
of 3 to 5 inches will be possible... with isolated amounts around
6 inches possible along the coast and on the islands. Because
of the tropical nature of the atmosphere... torrential downpours
are likely at times. In addition... the heavy rainfall near
coastal locations will occur at the time of high tide in the
predawn hours Sunday. This could aggravate the flood potential
for areas along the immediate coast.

* These torrential downpours will likely cause high rainfall rates
over a short period of time... potentially resulting in flash
flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
