Forecasts for Indiana  |   Return to US Severe Weather
Special Statement
Statement as of 2:59 PM CDT on May 24, 2012/

... A hot Holiday weekend coming up...

The first heat wave of the season will arrive in the Ohio Valley
just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend. A strong ridge of
high pressure aloft will provide plenty of sunshine... and allow
temperatures to climb into the lower 90s west of I-65 on Friday
afternoon... and into the mid 90s across most of the region
Saturday and Sunday. While humidity levels will not be as
oppressive as mid-Summer... we will get our first taste of tropical
humidity... which will make it feel more like the upper 90s on
Saturday and Sunday. The heat may ease just slightly on
Monday... but many locations will still exceed 90 degrees.

Those planning outdoor activities this weekend should take
appropriate measures to avoid sunburn and dehydration.
