Excessive Heat Watch
Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 10, 2008

Statement as of 2:03 PM PDT on July 6, 2008

... Excessive heat watch now in effect from Tuesday afternoon
through Thursday afternoon...

The excessive heat watch is now in effect from Tuesday afternoon
through Thursday afternoon.

By Tuesday afternoon temperatures are forecast to warm into the
90s for most areas... and from 100 to 105 for the hottest inland
valleys. Temperatures on Wednesday will likely warm a few
additional degrees. In addition... temperatures will remain warm
overnight. Temperatures on Tuesday night will cool only into the
60s and lower 70s.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The expected hot weather can create a
dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink
plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... and avoid
working in the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors... especially
those who are sensitive to the heat.

This excessive heat watch may need to be extended into Thursday.
