Forecasts for California  |   Return to US Severe Weather
Special Weather Statement
Expires 7:00 AM EST on November 22, 2008

Statement as of 2:40 PM PST on November 21, 2008

... A change to somewhat unsettled weather is anticipated for the
middle of next week and the Thanksgiving Holiday...

An area of low pressure is expected to develop in the eastern
Pacific Monday... then move to the California coast Tuesday and
Wednesday. This will bring a chance of rain to the central
California interior Tuesday through Thanksgiving day.

However... it does not look like a significant storm... with
precipitation being more showery in nature versus an all day rain.
Snow levels will remain fairly high... at or above 6500 feet. Travel
problems due to snow on mountain passes are not expected through
at least Thanksgiving day... such as I-5 over the Grapevine.

A stronger and colder storm could affect the region Friday.

Holiday travelers should monitor forecasts over the next several
days and plan accordingly.

Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the latest
updates on this changing pattern.
