Excessive Heat Watch
Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 10, 2008

Statement as of 2:03 PM PDT on July 6, 2008

... Excessive heat watch now in effect from Tuesday afternoon
through Thursday afternoon...

The excessive heat watch is now in effect from Tuesday afternoon
through Thursday afternoon.

Very warm weather is expected in San Francisco this week. By
Tuesday afternoon... temperatures in the city will warm well into
the 80s and may reach into the lower 90s in some of the warmest
parts of the city east of Twin Peaks. These very warm
temperatures will continue into Wednesday... and possibly into
Thursday as well. Some relief is expected Friday with cooler
temperatures expected.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The expected hot weather can create a
dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink
plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... and avoid
working in the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors... especially
those who are sensitive to the heat.

This excessive heat watch may need to be extended into Thursday.
